What is it?

This is the future of radio.  Thousands of radio stations around the world now broadcast online.  New wi-fi radios will enable browsing to search for stations by name.

Meanwhile, if you’re browsing the net, why not have Irish Radio playing in the background?  Tune in via www.irishradio.org.  Let us help you to relax and unwind.  You can listen whenever you want to and from wherever you are.  We pride ourselves on the high quality sound.

Who is it aimed at?

You, of course!  Our loyal listener base at Irish Spectrum Radio will undoubtedly relish the opportunity to hear evergreen Irish music 24/7.

This development is exciting.  Our output is global.  It is estimated that there are 80 million members of the Irish Diaspora (those who have emigrated from Ireland and their descendants) spread worldwide in such diverse territories as Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, the Caribbean, continental Europe, Mexico, New Zealand South Africa and the UK.

However, as John McColgan, co-founder of Riverdance famously said at Farmleigh, Dublin’s 2009 Global Economic Forum, “You don’t have to be Irish to be world Irish.”  We know that Irish Spectrum has a huge audience from all backgrounds with an affinity with Irish culture, who enjoy the very best of Irish music. We are now pleased to introduce both traditional and contemporary artists to a wider audience through the extended reach of Irish Radio.

What makes Irish Radio special?  Where do we start…

 Our anchor man is popular Irish Spectrum and BBC Radio presenter – Gerry Byrne – an award-winning broadcaster.  Gerry also has a big following, always in demand, appearing at leading Irish venues with his Irish Radio Roadshow  Mass appeal – all genres of music can be enjoyed.  Tune in to hear:  Irish country, ballads, folk and traditional standards – all your favourites  Exposure will also be given to breakthrough Irish artists and bands such as Saoirse  We have had countless messages of support for the new station from Irish Spectrum listeners, regularly featured artists on Irish Spectrum and our weekly advertisers  Irish Radio has a vast library.  We’ve assembled a great line up for you.  Just some of those on the playlist showcasing their greatest hits and new material are: Nathan Carter, Derek Ryan, Brendan Shine, Mike Denver, Larry Cunningham, Philip English, Declan Nerney, Mick Flavin, Margo, Daniel O’Donnell, Lisa Stanley, Lisa McHugh and thousands more.
